Blood for Lack of Oil?

In celebration of the time-honored liberal belief that “the seriousness of the charge” outweighs any need for direct evidence, I would like to offer the possibility that the Gulf Oil Spill of 2010 was an act of environmental terrorism rather than a tragic accident.

This theory, not made lightly, does not stem from concrete facts, but simply from asking the question … who stands to profit most?

And we must make an effort to make sure we do not rule out any likely possible cause. After all, sabotage is at least as probable as the negligence the media is attempting to prescribe on the part of the oil industry.

Doubters would be quick to point out that eco-terrorists are an unlikely suspect because the most immediate casualty of this incident is the environment itself.

However, environmental extremists are known for careless disregard of environmental impact in their attempts to advance their cause, whether consciously or not.

People like Al Gore and Arianna Huffington insist on flying private jets everywhere they go, often so they can arrive to lecture the rest of us on how dangerous our automobiles are to the environment.

In 2007, Gore even arranged a series of concerts in which he had 150 artists brought in by multiple private jets. The debacle resulted in Gore’s people dumping 31,500 tons of carbon gas into the environment in a single day

By contrast, the average American is reportedly responsible for the dumping of only 20 tons over the course of a full year.

Keep in mind Gore didn’t even do this for a good reason; he was just throwing a party to “raise awareness,” which one would think should have raised awareness in the environmental community of what a fraud Gore is.

Other “environmentally aware” celebrity eco-faux pas include the time Paul McCartney had a hybrid car flown to him by private jet, and the time Woody Harrelson had his “vegan” clothes flown to him on his private jet because he forgot them at home.

Hypocrisy is nothing new to this crowd. After all, if they’re willing to defy their beliefs just for the sake of looking like they’re doing something to make a difference, they’re certainly willing to martyr a coastline for political gain.

Besides, one of the biggest and dirtiest secrets about the environmentalist movement is that it is in no way focused on protecting the environment to begin with. Sure, there are some true believers, but many of the loudest voices, such as Gore’s and Huffington’s, are focused more on knocking down industrialized nations like the United States and lining their own pockets in the process.

Gore has successfully turned environmentalism into a multi-million-dollar business for himself alone, and the movement also happens to play host to a veritable who-used-to-be-who of the communist world. Socialism is the primary objective of environmentalism — saving the planet is incidental.

Now that we’ve established the possibility of eco-nazi involvement in the Gulf spill, the more important issue is why they would.

The reason is because environmentalists are always telling us how detrimental humankind is to the environment, but often unable to deliver visible, concrete examples of why that is. The favorite tactic of liberals faced with this dilemma is to manufacture the evidence themselves.

For instance, environmentalists have been talking for decades about the dangers posed by off-shore drilling, but have never been able to substantially sway public opinion and put the issue to rest, although they have been able to delay drilling efforts.

Suddenly, in the midst of a national debate on the issue–when the Democratic president has been (suspiciously) willing to bend on the issue, no less–an existing off-shore facility suffers a mysterious and devastating explosion resulting in environmental damage the media can report on and prove to the public. And like magic, the environmentalists have proof of the “very real danger” of their bogeyman.

The worst part about this is it is working. Even as I write this, the Democrats in Congress have proclaimed there will be no new off-shore drilling in the foreseeable future. Of course, they never backed the drilling to begin with and so they are getting exactly what they always wanted, complete with “evidence” to justify their position to their constituents.

Note that if they were really concerned about the environmental implications, they would be more distraught about the many other nations drilling or intending to drill near our waters, many of which are communist nations with much more lenient environmental regulations (but I’ve already explained why Cuba and Venezuela profiting from oil production is an unlikely win-win for environmentalists).

One could go a step further and hypothesize that this incident is not just the work of environmental activists, but of government operatives themselves.

This creates a situation not unlike the economic meltdown of the past couple years, allowing those responsible for the catastrophe–such as Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, in the case of the housing crisis–to be the ones to clean up the mess.

Democrats will be able to lay blame squarely on one of their most hated political opponents: BIG OIL. By the time the dust settles—or the oil dissipates, as it were—government will have an even bigger hand in regulating the oil industry and, judging by what they have done with the auto business and health care already, might even succeed in nationalizing it.

This train of thought might be unsettling to some–no one would like to believe this happened on purpose–but it is simply one very likely scenario in a field of possibilities.

In any case, it makes far more sense than the belief that George W. Bush steered Hurricane Katrina into New Orleans and destroyed the levies because he didn’t like black people, or that he worked in collusion with Islamic radicals to destroy the World Trade Center so that he would have an excuse to declare war on them.

On the other hand, environmental extremist groups such as the Earth Liberation Front are known for their willingness to attack people, destroy property, and for their disregard of human life.

Whatever the cause, the oil spill is tailor made for the environmentalist agenda. On the off-chance that they didn’t have a hand in it, be prepared for them to exploit the situation as much as they are able.
